What’s happening in the next few weeks:

* “Box Scores . . . and Much More: The Art of the Sports Page,” more than 60 original works created for print media from 1859 through 1997, will be at the San Diego Museum of Art Dec. 13-Feb. 1. The works, including “Playoff Berths,” right, by Bill Gallo, celebrate ball players of every field and court as well as boxers, jockeys and runners. * Also at the Museum: “Matisse: Florilege des Amours de Ronsard: A Celebration of French Renaissance Poetry,” Nov. 22-Feb. 1. Original lithographs created by Matisse between 1941 and 1948 that depict tender renderings of plants, flowers, classical mythological themes and human figures based on the writings of French Renaissance poet Pierre de Ronsard.

* The San Diego Wild Animal Park decks itself out for its annual Festival of Lights beginning on Dec. 12, with carolers, children’s snow play area, evening monorail rides, children’s crafts and events, food treats and animals to meet. San Pasqual Valley Road. (760) 796-5615.
