Crash Kills Man Who Apparently Ran a Red Light
A 40-year-old Lancaster man was killed early Saturday when his car was broadsided by another vehicle at 47th Street East and Avenue S, authorities said.
Ernesto Munguia suffered massive head injuries and was pronounced dead at 4:35 a.m. by rescue workers, said Deputy James Mumby of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale station.
Munguia was driving south on 47th Street East when he apparently ran a red light and was struck by a car driven by Leon Hartley, 38, of Palmdale, Mumby said. Hartley was westbound on Avenue S.
Hartley received minor injuries and told rescue workers he would seek medical treatment on his own, Mumby said.
