John Dulin Jones; Garment Executive
John Dulin Jones, World War II fighter pilot and Los Angeles garment executive, has died. He was 74.
Jones, who flew escort for the atomic bomb drops on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, died of pneumonia Sunday at Downey Community Hospital.
After the war, Jones became vice president of operations for Independent Garment Supply in downtown Los Angeles. He was an amateur artist and woodcarver, became a 32nd degree Mason and was active in the Al Malaikah Shrine and Scottish Rite.
The son of Baltimore’s city architect, Jones grew up in Richmond, Va., where he joined the ROTC and eventually the Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; his son, Phillip Dulin Jones of Downey, and his daughter, Janet Dulin Jones of Beverly Hills.
The family has asked that any memorial donations be made to the Shriners’ Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles.
