Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery Sold
Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, the final resting place of Rudolph Valentino, Tyrone Power and Jayne Mansfield, was auctioned off in bankruptcy court Wednesday for $275,000.
Buck Kamphausen, a Vallejo businessman who owns a chain of Northern California cemeteries and mortuaries, was the top bidder for the bankrupt 62-acre property off Santa Monica Boulevard behind Paramount Studios.
The deal still must be approved by state regulators and by the bank that holds the mortgage on the property, but the purchase ensures that the 100-year-old cemetery will remain open.
