From Times Staff and Wire Reports

NAACP officials announced they have accepted the resignation of the Rev. Henry Lyons and filed a formal complaint against another board member, Hazel Dukes, who is under pressure to quit. NAACP chairwoman Myrlie Evers-Williams said she is seeking the resignation of four national board members who have either admitted or been accused of financial improprieties. Lyons, president of the National Baptist Convention U.S.A Inc., has been accused of mishandling church funds and committing adultery. Dukes pleaded guilty to attempted grand larceny last month. The group’s executive committee is still reviewing matters involving James Ghee and Bobby Bivens.
