SAN DIEGO--Festival of the Lights, Nov. 28, throws the switch on Old Town’s life-size, hand-carved Nativity. The hourlong event begins with dance performances, including Philippine and Irish troupes and ends with illumination of the Nativity. 5-6 p.m. at Bazaar del Mundo, 2754 Calhoun St. Free. INDIO--The Cabazon Mission Indians host their annual Thanksgiving powwow Nov. 28-30 on the Cabazon reservation, I-10 and Auto Center Drive. Arts and crafts will be for sale, including hand-tooled silver jewelry, beadwork, quill work, ceramics, blankets and wall hangings. GRASS VALLEY--The city accents its Cornish past with the 30th annual Cornish Christmas Celebration, Nov. 28 and Dec. 5, 12 and 19. Participants don costumes for the event, with arts and crafts booths and food for sale, including cookies and hot apple cider. PETALUMA--The Adobe Luminaria Fiesta, Dec. 13, features the lighting of more than 800 luminarias. There will also be carolers; performances of traditional Latino dances; a posada, re-creating Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter; and demonstrations of 1800s-era crafts.
