Spotlight: Business Growth Surges On

The number of new businesses continued to grow unabated last month amid signals that growth is spreading from urban centers to other parts of the state, according to information services firm CDB Infotek of Santa Ana. A total of 4,297 corporations were registered with the secretary of state in October, up 6.1% from September and up 11.6% from October 1996. At the current pace, incorporations for 1997 will total 52,750 by the end of the year, the highest number since 1989, the firm said.
