Colorado--Re-signed free-agent catcher Jeff Reed to a two-year contract worth $2.6 million; signed free-agent infielder Jeff Huson, who had been with the Milwaukee Brewers, to a minor league contract.

Detroit--Traded infielder Travis Fryman to Arizona for third basemen Joe Randa and Gabe Alvarez and pitcher Matt Drews; re-signed first baseman Tony Clark to a four-year contract worth about $12 million.

Florida--Traded pitcher Robb Nen to San Francisco for pitchers Mike Villano, Joe Fontenot and Mike Pageler; traded pitcher Kurt Miller to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named.

Milwaukee--Agreed to terms with pitcher Doug Jones on a one-year contract worth $3 million.

Montreal--Traded pitcher Pedro Martinez to Boston for pitcher Carl Pavano and a player to be named; Traded second baseman Mike Lansing to Colorado for pitchers Jake Westbrook and John Nicholson and outfielder Mark Hamlin.
