After not giving up a short-handed goal for the first 18 games of the season, the Kings gave up their third in four games Thursday night when Tony Amonte scored in the second period for the Chicago Blackhawks at the Forum.
Amonte’s goal came after Chicago’s Gary Suter was penalized for hooking the Kings’ Craig Johnson 2:03 into the period. The Kings’ man-advantage turned into a disadvantage when Amonte stole a pass by defenseman Garry Galley and then beat goaltender Stephane Fiset on a breakaway for his ninth goal.

Rob Blake’s goal in the second period against the Blackhawks was his third of the season and 71st of his career, and moved him into a tie for second place among King defensemen with Marty McSorley. Steve Duchesne is the all-time leader with 75.
