Rain, Cooler Weather Expected for Holiday

A rainy Thanksgiving Day is forecast in the San Fernando Valley following several days of sunny skies and springlike weather, forecasters said.

Clear skies with highs in the mid-70s are forecast for today throughout the Valley, but heavy clouds are expected to roll in Tuesday evening followed by showers Wednesday and Thursday with slightly cooler temperatures in the mid-60s.

“There is a storm system organized over the central Pacific, and it’s starting to move eastward. We should see clouds as it moves over California,” said John Sherwin, a meteorologist at WeatherData Inc., which provides forecast information to The Times. “Looks like it should be quite rainy Wednesday through Thursday, especially in Central and Northern California.”

Sherwin said the showers will give way to a clearing trend Friday with high temperatures remaining in the mid-60s.

Today’s high temperatures are expected to be 75 in Woodland Hills and Burbank and 76 in Chatsworth and Van Nuys with lows in the low 50s, he said.

Tuesday’s highs are expected to be in the low 70s with clear skies giving way to clouds by the evening, Sherwin said.
