Sony Corp. has chosen Interlink Electronics Inc.’s semiconductive touch pad for integration into its new sub-notebook computer, PCG-505.

Shipments will begin this month in Japan, Interlink officials said.

“Sony’s selection of Interlink Electronics’ semiconductive technology is pivotal for our efforts to gain market share,” said E. Michael Thoben III, chairman, CEO and president of Camarillo-based Interlink.

“Sony’s notebook will be the first to offer the user direct input using a finger, pen or common stylus for drawing or signing documents,” Thoben said. “These benefits are achieved at very low power consumption, a critical issue in today’s mobile computing.”
