A 32-year-old Santa Ana man was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, and investigators suspect he may be linked to a rash of car burglaries in four cities, police said Monday.

Donald Ray Wilson was arrested Sunday afternoon by plainclothes investigators staking out the parking lot at Tommy Lasorda Jr. Field House on Casa Loma Avenue, an area where several car burglaries had been reported in recent weeks, police said.

Undercover officers said they watched Wilson enter an unlocked Toyota Camry and make a failed attempt to open the car’s trunk, Brea Police Det. Dave Jones said.

Detectives searched Wilson’s car and found a purse stolen from a car at Bernardo Yorba Middle School, Jones said.

Wilson was arrested at the scene on suspicion of vehicle burglary and possession of stolen property, burglary tools and a controlled substance, Jones said.

Wilson confessed to burglaries in Brea, Fullerton, Placentia and Yorba Linda, Jones said, and the investigation continues.
