The San Fernando Valley Symphony, under the direction of James Domine, will present Giuseppe Verdi’s classic opera, “Rigoletto,” Saturday evening at Pierce College. This production features Carlos Oliva, right, in the title role, Deborah Mayhan as Gilda, Michael Wutske as Sparafucile, Linda Escobar as Maddalena and Gabriel Pasos as the Duke. Based on a Victor Hugo drama, “Rigoletto” was first performed in Venice in 1851 and was Verdi’s first major success. This tale of revenge includes one of opera’s most popular arias, “La Donna e Mobile” (“The Woman Is Fickle”).
