Bob Goin, fired as athletic director at Florida State amid ethics charges, was hired for the same job at Cincinnati. He succeeds Gerald O’Dell, who resigned Aug. 8.

Former Alabama defensive lineman Michael Myers, kicked off the team Sept. 18 for violating NCAA rules, conceded that he has only himself to blame for accepting hundreds of dollars from a sports agent and then lying to school officials about it. . . . Hawaii running back Quincy Jacobs, suspending indefinitely for violating team rules, officially quit the team and plans to withdraw from classes to return to Stanford.
