Pot Shots

Don’t let your plants go to pot: The latest line of resin planters by Bemis features an antique and matte finish in addition to the company’s controlled watering system.

The finishes, the first for plastic planters, give each pot a more realistic look. The watering system makes it easier to give houseplants the water, nutrients and oxygen they need to thrive.

Bemis’ watering system uses a raised, ventilated platform that creates a pocket of air between the plant and the water reservoir, so the plant absorbs only the water it needs.

And because the water in the base adjusts to room temperature, it protects the plant from being shocked by water that is too warm or too cold.

The Mexico collection (from $10 to $28), which has an antique terra-cotta look, is available at Target stores in sand, bronze stone and burnt sienna in a variety of sizes. The Boulder collection (from $3 to $15), which has the look and feel of natural earthenware, will be available at Target and HomeBase stores next month.

To a Tea

The newest scents for the home are in the bag.

The Tea Thymes collection of potpourri, oils, burning sticks and candles were designed to soothe, energize and rejuvenate in addition to adding scents to the air.

The three fragrances that make up the collection are steeped in the centuries-old history of the common beverage. Tea has been recognized for its aromatic and healing powers, besides being associated with several rituals, such as teatime in Great Britain and religious ceremony in Eastern culture.

It is this rich history that Minneapolis-based Thymes Limited hopes to evoke in its collection.

For instance, Green Tea & Ginkgo Leaves is a tonic fragrance that energizes. It has notes of green tea, cardamom, rose hips, lime and clary sage to stimulate the senses.

Jasmine & Lotus Flower is a velvety, rich, soft floral scent. It has lemongrass and ginger oil for a calming effect.

Oolong & Orange Blossom relies on mandarin orange, lime, coriander and lavender for its zesty floral notes.

The collection, which also offers items for the bath and body, sells from $4 to $48.
