Boat Wedding Guest Stabbed, Officers Attacked
A wedding on a charter boat turned rowdy Saturday night when one guest stabbed another and then guests attacked officers who came aboard to investigate, according to police.
A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing another man in the shoulder while standing on the bow about 9:25 p.m., Police Sgt. Jim Kaminsky said.
The victim was taken to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, where he was being treated for a minor wound.
When three police officers reboarded the 70-foot Island Girl minutes later, several guests allegedly started a fight with them, Kaminsky said.
One man was arrested on suspicion of battery on a police officer.
Kaminsky said the names of the suspects, victims and the married couple were unavailable late Saturday night.
The boat was moored behind 3305 Via Lido, and the wedding party was winding down, Kaminsky said.
