Carpinteria 54, Santa Clara 0--The Saints’ only scoring threat fizzled when Carpinteria’s Jason Requejo intercepted a Kevin Gormley pass on a fake field-goal attempt and returned it for a touchdown with three minutes remaining in a nonleague game at Carpinteria.

Terrance Dotsy had four receptions for 53 yards and Jose Resendez rushed 13 times for 42 yards for Santa Clara (1-4), which was out-gained in the first half, 245-74.

Brian Groom had touchdown runs of five, 19 and 32 yards for Carpinteria (3-2) and quarterback Matt Paradise opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 50-yard touchdown run. Ryan Gocong rushed for 157 yards in 13 carries.
