Property for Schools

Share

* On B1 of the Oct. 3 paper was an article discussing the need the Los Angeles Unified School District will have for space to build new schools for an expanding population (“Analyst Sees Need for 8 New High Schools”).

On page B3 of the same paper, an article reported that Pierce College is seeking bids from developers to buy land that is part of the Pierce campus. (“Pierce Seeking Bids From Developers.”)

It seems to me the best use of Pierce land is for schools. The school district should have first choice of any land owned by a public organization. Taxpayer-owned land should be used for taxpayer needs.

In the long run, it is probably the least expensive way for land to be acquired for schools to be built--not only in the Valley, but all the city.
