A homeless man was killed Monday when a trash truck drove over him as he lay in an alley near Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, police said.
The unidentified man, who was was in his 20s, died at the scene at 6:43 a.m. in the alley behind a business in the 1600 block of North Vine Street, investigators said.
“We don’t know if he was sleeping or he was just passed out,” said Los Angeles Police Det. Kirk Hunter.
The truck driver, who was not charged, was apparently unaware that he had backed over the man and was told of the incident by a bystander, said Hunter.
