Workshops Offered on Non-Aviation Base Use

Share

Two public workshops to help develop a non-aviation use for El Toro Marine Corps Air Station will be held Sunday.

The workshops are sponsored by Project ’99 in conjunction with a coalition of South County cities planning an alternative use for the base. Project ’99 is opposed to conversion of the Marine base to a commercial airport in 1999.

Larry Agran, director of Project ‘99, said the sessions are open to both supporters and opponents of an El Toro airport.

“We’re not going to reargue the issue,” Agran said. “This is about engaging in hands-on work to develop a non-aviation reuse plan.”

There will be two sessions--a morning workshop from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and an afternoon workshop from 2 to 5 p.m.

County residents may call (714) 559-5423 to receive a planning packet.
