Fitch Expects Wright to Excel

Clipper swingman Lorenzen Wright, who started 51 games at center last season, had a good debut as a power forward in Saturday’s 98-94 exhibition victory over the Vancouver Grizzlies.
Clipper Coach Bill Fitch said Wright, who had eight points and three rebounds in 22 minutes, will improve.
“One week is all he’s had at power forward,” Fitch said. “Give him time.
“I like him. I sure wouldn’t want him on anybody else’s team but mine. I’m not afraid to put Lorenzen in in any situation because he’s that type of kid. You don’t find kids like that too often.”

The Clippers lost an exhibition game at Portland, 91-87, Monday night. Rodney Rogers scored 16 for the Clippers.

Pooh Richardson, replaced by Darrick Martin as the Clippers’ starting point guard last season, seems to have adjusted: he made two of three shots and had nine points, two rebounds and two assists against the Grizzlies.
