Discount Theater Ticket Booth to Open Today

L.A. theater fans no longer have to envy New York’s Times Square discount ticket mecca. Starting today the city has its own half-price theater booth.

Theatre L.A.’s Times Tix ticket outlet, co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times, will sell same-day half-price tickets to more than 25 of the area’s shows. Current offerings include “Old Wicked Songs” at the Geffen Playhouse, “Skylight” at the Mark Taper Forum and the Groundlings’ “Cooking With Gas.”

Times Tix is on the seventh level of the Beverly Center, 8500 Beverly Blvd. at La Cienega. Hours are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays-Fridays; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturdays; and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays. It accepts cash only, and there is a $1-$3 service charge depending on the price of a ticket.
