Gay Rabbi

Having just completed High Holy Days for a fourth year at Kol Simcha, the Orange County gay, lesbian, bi- and heterosexual synagogue where our eldest child is a cantor, I am thrilled to read of Rabbi Donald Goor’s ordination at Temple Judea (Oct. 13).
I believe my late father-in-law, Earl Morse, former chairman of the board of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations (3 million, Reform) and aunt, Norma Udall Levitt, former president of National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, would join us in congratulating the courageous Temple Judea and Reform movement. We should all bear witness to vision, compassion and integrity: providing houses of ongoing learning and prayer, respondent to the changing needs of increasingly complex societies, for all those desiring Judaism, the laws of tzedaka (justice) and with respect for all life.
