Man, Son Are Charged in Decade-Old Murder
A hired hand was digging a hole to get rid of some farm junk when he unearthed the bones of a boy who disappeared 10 years ago, police said Thursday.
With the bones as evidence, officers arrested a former neighbor now living in Arizona and the man’s son, who was accused of helping bury the body.
A forensic examination indicated 14-year-old Randy Laufer had been stabbed repeatedly in the lower back, neck and pelvis.
John Rodney McRae, 63, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder. His son Martin John McRae, 23, was charged with accessory after the fact in a homicide. The two were taken into custody in Mesa, Ariz., where they moved a few months after Randy vanished in 1987.
