City to Mull Hearing Cyberlounge Appeal
Backers of a proposed bar with Internet access are asking the City Council to overturn a Planning Commission decision denying them a operating permit.
The Planning Commission ruled against the proposal after neighbors said they feared the business would cause noise and parking problems and that customers might use the Internet to find pornography.
In the appeal, backers of the Cyberlounge bar said their plans were misunderstood. They said they want to open “an upscale retreat” at 18394 Brookhurst St. with a piano player, gourmet coffee, smoothies and other amenities, according to a city report.
The City Council will decide tonight whether to hear the appeal. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in City Hall, 10200 Slater Ave.
