Training Group Honors Sales Manager

Share

A manager who developed a hotel training program that has captured attention in a time of welfare reform has been named Business Leader of the Year by the Central County Regional Occupational Program.

The group recently awarded the title to Michael Krouse, director of sales and marketing for the Doubletree Hotel. He developed a hands-on training program for five interns studying hospitality at the hotel. Three of those interns were hired by Doubletree.

“Michael has gone beyond the call of duty to help make the ROP program in Orange successful,” said Nancy White, hospitality instructor for the Central County’s Regional Occupational Program. “He has been a source of inspiration to them.”

Krouse is a graduate of the Regional Occupational Program and has served on its advisory committee.

The program works with high school students and adults who are looking for entry-level jobs or want to explore new careers. Central County ROP is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and has assisted 246,904 high school and adult students since 1972. Of those trained, more than 75% of the students were able to find jobs.
