Negrete, Reznik Off UC Irvine Team

Phil Negrete and Boris Reznik will not play for the UC Irvine basketball team this season, Coach Pat Douglass said. Both will remain at the school on scholarship.

Negrete, a 6-foot-5 sophomore guard, averaged 1.6 points in 15 games last season. Reznik, a 6-10 junior center, averaged 0.3 points in 12 games.

Matt Gottschalk, a 6-foot-10 center from Trout Lake (Wash.) School, said Tuesday he will play basketball at UC Irvine.

Gottschalk played three seasons at Columbia High School in White Salmon, Wash., before transferring to Trout Lake this year. He averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds, 5.5 blocks and 4 assists last season.

He will sign a letter of intent during the early signing period in November.
