Titans, Pepperdine Tie in Women’s Soccer

Cal State Fullerton’s Amy Barnes and Pepperdine’s Jennifer Peterson each scored first-half goals for a 1-1 tie in nonconference women’s soccer Wednesday at Cal State Fullerton.

Barnes scored 20 minutes into the game from 15 yards to give the Titans (6-9-1) the lead. Peterson’s goal came at the 34th minute on a kick from 25 yards.

Marla Nelson recorded a career-high 10 saves for the Titans. Pepperdine is 5-9-1.

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s soccer:

Azusa Pacific 2, Concordia 0--Aaron Siefker, a former Sunny Hills High standout, scored the first goal off a corner kick for Azusa Pacific (14-2, 7-0) in the sixth minute. Jason Ruos scored in the 21st minute for the Cougars, who have won 11 in a row. Concordia is 4-11, 1-6.

In nonconference women’s soccer:

Southern California College 1, Chapman 0 (OT)--Meggen Fleener scored on a free kick in the 114th minute for SCC (13-4). Chapman is 11-4-1.

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

Chapman 3, Concordia 1--Chapman rebounded from a slow start to beat Concordia, 17-15, 11-15, 15-8, 15-12. Monica Girad had 16 kills for Chapman (13-6). Sarah Roberts had 14 kills to lead Concordia (4-21).
