Los Angeles Police Department detectives sought the public’s help Thursday in finding the suspect or suspects who walked up to two men near a West Adams gas station and opened fire, killing one of them and injuring the other, authorities said.

The attack occurred about 8 p.m. Wednesday as the victims sat in a car in the 1700 block of West 23rd Street, said LAPD Det. Rudy Lemos. One or more gunmen apparently walked up to the vehicle and opened fire, Lemos said.

Donald Brim, 31, died at a hospital, and Harold Champion, 27, was hospitalized in stable condition, Lemos said.
