Offering an encore to the community’s recent 100th anniversary celebration, the Los Alamitos Historical Museum will host an open house Nov. 2.

From pictures of the old sugar beet factory to local sports stars who made it to the professional leagues, the exhibits offer a glimpse into the city’s past.

A special section will focus on Community Congregation United Church of Christ, which also is 100 years old.

Several hundred people attended a parade, barbecue and festival at the community’s July 19 anniversary, and history buffs wanted one more round celebrating civic pride.

“They worked so hard on the centennial they wanted to do one more thing,” Liz Myers, a museum spokeswoman, said about the upcoming event.

The open house is from 2 to 4 p.m. The museum is at 11062 Los Alamitos Blvd.
