Raymond Priester ran for a 204 yards and scored both Clemson touchdowns as the Tigers won their fifth straight against Maryland, 20-9, Saturday at College Park, Md.

Clemson, 4-3 overall and 2-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, trailed 9-7 at halftime before Priester took over, running 22 times for 128 yards and a score in the second half.

Priester finished with a school-record tying 36 attempts. His 204 yards was the seventh-most in Clemson history. The senior tailback set the record of 263 yards last year against Duke.

Maryland (2-6, 1-4) failed to get a touchdown in its four previous games against Clemson while being outscored, 93-3. The Terrapins ended their lengthy touchdown drought in the second quarter, but that wasn’t enough offense to offset Priester’s brilliant performance.

After a sluggish first half, the Tigers took the lead for good on a 27-yard field goal by David Richardson in the third quarter.

Wake Forest 38, Duke 24--Kito Gary’s six-yard scoring run with 6:33 left helped cap Wake Forest’s best ground attack in 3 1/2 seasons as the Demon Deacons overcame five turnovers to defeat the Blue Devils at Durham, N.C.

Wake Forest (4-4, 3-3) handed Duke (2-6, 0-5) its 15th straight conference loss.

The Demon Deacons, last in the ACC in rushing at 88.1 yards per game, ground out 309 as Herman Lewis rushed for 160 yards and Morgan Kane added 146.

An interception by David Zadel at the Wake Forest 42 with 8:36 left set up the Demon Deacons’ winning score. The misfire by Bobby Campbell was his 11th straight incompletion as the Duke offense bogged down in the second half after piling up 261 yards in the first half.

With the ground game clicking, the Demon Deacons were able to break a 10-game ACC road losing skid despite quarterback Brian Kuklick having an off day. Kuklick threw three second-half interceptions.
