Clerk Slain in Robbery; Tape From Security Cameras Released
Hours after a 27-year-old clerk was slain Monday morning during a robbery at a doughnut shop, police released a security videotape that shows the gunman leaping over a counter and then mortally wounding the clerk.
Conrado Sandoval died at 4:45 a.m. in a Winchell’s Donuts at 101 W. Florence Ave., according to a Los Angeles Police Department officer. The gunman fled with an undetermined amount of money, police said.
“We have some good, clear pictures of this guy,” said Newton Division Det. Kelly Baitx, ( adding that three cameras caught the slaying.
Sandoval, who had worked at the shop for two years, was from Guatemala, where most of his family lives.
“If anyone sees these pictures and they have a conscience, they’ll call us,” said Det. Jesus Linn.
