Religious Freedom
Jim Beam’s article on the Religious Freedom Bill on Oct. 19 is typical of many positions taken by the far right religious folks who spout cliches to support their agenda. Opposition to HR 2431 is not necessarily due to “greed” and “politics”; many thinking people realize that the United States can’t dictate to other sovereign countries. It is very regrettable that groups representing Muslims, Christians, Jews, atheists and people of other persuasions are persecuted every day in foreign lands. Beam has a right to bemoan the fate of some of his Christian brethren, but some of us do not believe our foreign policy should be influenced by his narrow perspective and concerns.
