Late Shot Keeps Power Perfect

Elaine Powell’s 10-foot baseline jumper with seven seconds left Wednesday gave the unbeaten Portland Power a 67-65 victory over the New England Blizzard before 6,424 at Hartford, Conn.

Powell’s winning shot came 11 seconds after New England’s Carolyn Jones made two free throws to tie it. The Power (6-0) worked the ball inside to Natalie Williams, who found Powell on the baseline for the game-winning shot.

Williams led Portland with 17 points and seven assists. Jones had 25 points to lead the Blizzard (2-4), which committed a season-high 27 turnovers.

Seattle 99, San Jose 94--Shalonda Enis scored 23 points and Kate Starbird had 21 and both made a pair of free throws in the final seconds as the Reign (2-5) held off the Lasers (1-6) at Seattle. Katryna Gaither led San Jose with 22 points.
