Gershwin Delayed: Saxophonist Joe Henderson’s performance scheduled for Sunday at the Freedman Forum Concert Theatre in Anaheim (formerly the Celebrity Theatre) has been canceled. Henderson, who is touring to promote his new Verve recording, “Porgy & Bess,” will instead play six nights at the Jazz Bakery, Jan. 6-11.

Ricki Lee Jones will guest with Henderson’s quintet Saturday when it appears as part of the San Francisco Jazz Festival. Henderson will appear without a vocalist when he plays the Jazz Bakery.

Coming Soon: Odean Pope, known for his longtime association with drummer Max Roach, comes to Catalina Bar & Grill with his own trio, Thursday-Nov. 9. Pope’s last recording, “Ninety-Six” (Enja), is an excellent trio date with bassist Tyrone Brown and drummer Mickey Roker that highlights Pope’s strong-willed way with his horn.
