Top Brass Said Aware of Priest’s Pedophilia

The correspondence of top Catholic officials shows they knowingly allowed a pedophile priest to work for at least 20 years in four states, the Dallas Morning News reported. The Rev. David Holley is serving 275 years in prison under a sentence he received in 1993 for molesting young boys in Alamogordo, N.M., two decades earlier. The News said bishops sent Holley for inpatient psychiatric treatment and institutionalized him when allegations resurfaced after he had retired. The News cited correspondence from personnel files obtained in the lawsuits of some of Holley’s former parishioners. Church officials say they lacked details about pedophiles until the early 1990s and now are trying to find offenders.
