Horse Show to Raise Money for Hospital
Stallions, thoroughbreds and the Long Beach Mounted Police are all taking part in the 40th annual Portuguese Bend National Horse Show in Rolling Hills Estates this weekend.
More than 200 horses are scheduled to compete. The event will feature a competition in which horses and riders will be judged on their ability to jump over obstacles and maneuver a course.
The event will also offer pony rides for children, face painting and festival booths. Proceeds will go to Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles. The show, which opened Friday, is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Ernie Howlett Park at 25851 Hawthorne Blvd. Cost: $4 for adults; $2 children. Information: (310) 373-8361.
