Saddleback District OKs 1997-98 Budget
Saddleback Valley Unified School District kicked off the 1997-98 school year this week with the approval of a revised 1997-98 budget.
The budget includes general fund revenue of $158.9 million, an increase of about $12 million from last year.
Spending for the school year will reach about $156.8 million.
In other action, the five-member panel named the district’s newest school: Melinda Heights Elementary School.
The school, in Rancho Santa Margarita at Melinda and Rancho Trabuco roads, will draw students from crowded campuses at Trabuco Mesa and Cielo Vista elementary schools.
The $7-million school is expected to open next fall.
Trustees also set a Board of Education meeting for 7 p.m. Sept. 30 at the district office, 25631 Diseno Drive.
