USC Stops Pepperdine in Soccer, 2-0

Courtney Barham scored a goal and assisted on another to lead USC to a 2-0 victory over Pepperdine in a nonconference women's soccer match Friday at Malibu.

Barham assisted on Kaylee Whitfield's goal in the 55th minute, then scored on an assist from Carol Hatcher in the 77th minute.

Karen Puccinelli made three saves for USC. Sumon Nicole made seven saves for Pepperdine (1-1).


The Master's d. Lewis and Clark, 15-7, 15-11, 5-15, 15-12--Misty May had 12 kills, Kristi Ralston had 10 kills and Christie Williams had 25 assists for The Master's (3-4) in pool play of the Whittier tournament. Earlier, Kim Gibson had 11 kills for Master's, which defeated La Verne, 15-13, 15-4, 8-15, 15-9.

Pepperdine d. Virginia, 15-4, 15-11, 12-15, 15-5--Nicole Sanderson had 20 kills and Jamie Hill had 13 for the Waves in a nonconference match at Virginia. Becci Roehi had 55 assists for Pepperdine (5-0).

CS Northridge d. Texas San Antonio, 15-5, 13-15, 15-9, 15-9--Crystal Newquist had 17 kills and Rene Goth had 15 kills for the Matadors (6-0) in the opening round of the Nevada-Las Vegas tournament. Ellie Flato had 47 assists for Northridge.
