No-Stopping Law at School Takes Effect

Share

Now that school is back in session, with students walking and biking to class, the Sheriff’s Department is warning motorists not to stop at any time on Moorpark Road in front of Thousand Oaks High School.

Starting today through Sept. 13, deputies will be strictly enforcing the no-stopping rule, as well as making sure drivers stick to the 45 mph speed limit.

Motorists should not stop because their cars will block the bicycle lane, which would force bike riders into the southbound traffic lanes of Moorpark Road, Sgt. Ken Bailey said.

Bailey reminded parents to unload and load their children on school grounds--instead of in the street--to ensure the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists.

The new number for the sheriff’s abandoned vehicle hotline is 371-8379.
