Creekside Center Project Revised

A revised draft environmental impact report for the proposed Creekside Center project will be presented Thursday at an Agoura Hills planning commission hearing.

The project, which has undergone several changes since developer Vance Moran originally submitted it in 1989, is planned for more than 16 acres on the corner of a 151-acre site at the foothills of Ladyface Mountain.

The current incarnation of the project calls for 118,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and movie theater space, with two parking structures on the corner of Kanan and Agoura roads.

Mike Kamino, the city’s senior planner, said the most noticeable change in the project’s environmental document involves Lindero Canyon Creek.

Originally, the creek was to be filled and rechanneled underground because about 700 feet of it flows into the path of the proposed development.

To avoid issues over permits with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, city officials said, the developer revised the plan so that the development would no longer cover the creek.

The creek would be left in its natural state, and a bridge would be built to span it, Kamino said.

The public has until Sept. 29 to submit comments on the revised project, city officials said.

The public hearing “provides an opportunity for people to listen to other people’s comments before they finalize their comments in writing,” Kamino said.

The final environmental impact report is expected to be available by November, when the project will go before the commission for a conditional-use permit.

Thursday’s public hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 30101 Agoura Court, Suite 102.
