Man Dies From Injuries in Crash
COSTA MESA — An 18-year-old Huntington Beach man has died from injuries he suffered in a collision Monday.
Troy Allen Soto died about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, Costa Mesa police said.
He had been driving east on Adams Avenue about 8:30 a.m. Monday when he lost control of his car, hit the curb, then veered into oncoming traffic, police said. He hit an oncoming van with four occupants, police said. A 5-year-old girl in the van was seriously hurt, but has improved and been taken out of intensive care at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, police said.
Witnesses told police Soto may have been swerving to avoid a car that turned in front of him when he lost control. The crash remains under investigation.
