Salonen Makes Difference

Re “Salonen, Chalifour Revel in the Songs of Seduction” (Sept. 11) by Mark Swed: The boss is back!

My friends and I were indeed riveted by the performances at the Hollywood Bowl, causing one to remark, “What a difference a conductor makes.” Both the audience and orchestra were simultaneously struck by Esa-Pekka Salonen’s electrifying baton.

Bernstein and Ravel would have been proud of the interpretation and review.

Bravo, Messrs. Salonen, Chalifour and Swed!
