McGwire Gushing Over St. Louis
Mark McGwire thinks he and the St. Louis Cardinals are a perfect match.
“I think there’s a pretty damn good chance I’ll be back,” McGwire told radio station KMOX on the Cardinals’ pregame show Friday night. “Let’s hope things work out.”
The Cardinals acquired McGwire from the Oakland Athletics on July 31. He had 16 homers in 34 games with St. Louis going into Friday, raising his total to 50.
“This place, St. Louis, really appreciates baseball,” McGwire said. “I wish I’d had that through my whole career. But, hey, better late than never, right?”
