Leaders from some of Orange County’s largest companies today will tour county charities funded by the United Way.
Representatives from Alcon Surgical, Automobile Club of Southern California, Fluor Corp., IBM, Irvine Co., Nielson Co., Nelson Communications, Nordstrom, Steelcase Inc. and Times Orange County are scheduled to visit organizations that help the needy.
Stops include the Santa Ana Community Day Nursery in Garden Grove and Orange Elderly Services Inc. in Orange.
“All of these companies have invested money in the umbrella organization of the United Way and they are going to be checking up on their investments,” spokesman Troy M. Meier said. The companies have raised $1.25 million for United Way. The event launches United Way’s annual corporate fund-raiser, Days of Caring.
