Sheesh! You’d think that with all those layers of People forming a moat around movie stars, a guy could keep a few secrets going. When is a secret not a secret?

When Esquire magazine splashes it all over its cover.

The October issue, which is just hitting newsstands, has Kevin Spacey mugging for the camera. Next to his left eyebrow is the fairly giant headline: “Kevin Spacey Has a Secret.”

Gee. Guess.

Not that Spacey confirms or denies anything about his personal life in the magazine’s celeb profile hawking his role as a gay antiques dealer accused of murder in Clint Eastwood’s upcoming film “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.” But the very first thing writer Tom Junod tells you is that even his (Junod’s) mother knows about Spacey. What have things come to in these post-Ellen days? Is it now OK to suggest you’re outing people on the cover of national magazines because being gay isn’t considered such a naughty secret anymore?

Or is it now OK to exploit the private lives of gay people the way some media types have been exploiting the private lives of straight people?

Gee. Guess.
