Council to Consider Preservation Policy

Share

Guidelines for the preservation of historic buildings in the city will be considered tonight by the City Council.

Under a series of proposals before the council, the city could pass an ordinance setting an interim demolition policy for historic buildings and giving financial incentives for residents who want to see their homes declared a Dana Point landmark.

The council also could pass a set of voluntary preservation guidelines for property owners. Council members could simply receive a recently completed Historical Resource Survey and take no action.

The survey identified less than 100 buildings constructed before 1940. The 6 p.m. meeting will take place in City Hall, 33282 St. of the Golden Lantern. Information: (714) 248-9890.
