Man Charged in Abduction, Molestation of Boy, 7
A man accused of abducting and molesting a 7-year-old boy was being held on $1.2 million bail after being charged Friday with kidnapping and other felonies, authorities said.
Myron Howard, 42, faces one count of kidnapping a child under 14, four counts of lewd acts with a child, one count of failure to register as a sex offender and one misdemeanor count of giving a false name to a police officer, authorities said.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Jane Blissert said Howard walked up to the boy in front of 59th Street Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon while the child was waiting for his mother. Howard allegedly squeezed the boy’s hand and told the child to come home with him.
Howard then allegedly took the boy to an abandoned home and molested him, Blissert said.
The child managed to escape and Howard was arrested late Wednesday.
