Productivity Enhancement Products Inc., an engineering and product development firm, said Monday that its technology will be used in a new mail delivery system designed to provide the U.S. Postal Service with faster service, lower costs and better mail tracking.

The privately held company designed a hand-held laser data computer terminal that will further automate postal operations. The design and PEP’s role are part of the $218-million mail automation contract won by Lockheed Martin Federal Systems.

PEP, which began operations nine years ago, also said that it has formed its first board of directors with its president, Dan Beadle, as chairman, and two outside directors, William J. Bowers of South Laguna and Richard J. Dadamo of Laguna Niguel.
