Task Force on Charter Reform Set to Begin Work

Share

A 21-member task force will begin meeting today to decide whether residents should grant more authority to the City Council and reduce the role of the city manager.

The Pasadena Charter Study Task Force also will examine whether the city should have a directly elected mayor and school board members elected by district rather than at large. The task force, which includes former Councilman William E. Thomson Jr., will hold a series of meetings and forward its recommendations to the council.

Council members could put the issue before voters.

The city has set aside $20,000 so far to help the council-appointed members of the group. Tonight’s meeting is set for 6:30 at the City Yards, 233 W. Mountain St.
